| This dog run is a community that only works if everyone respects one another and our dogs. Please cooperate if others point out a rule or request that you remove your dog. |
1. If a dog is pooping and the owner isn't scooping, SAY SOMETHING. It's everyone's responsibility to keep this dog run clean.
2. Monitor your dog at all times. If your reading material or cell phone keep you from doing this, please do not use them here. Dogs will be dogs, but please do not let
him/her pester or mount other dogs. If one owner asks another to manage their dog, please oblige.
3. Food in the dog run can cause fights. Take your picnic somewhere else and use extreme caution if you are carrying treats.
4. All dogs must be licensed and immunized.
5. Please spay or neuter your dog to keep the run safe for him/her and others. Unneutered dogs are more likely to be aggressive or provoke aggression, especially when
other unneutered males are around.
6. Do not bring females in heat into the run. The boys will fight over females in heat.
7. No roller blades, scooters or bicycles. Many dogs become alarmed at unusual things on wheels.
8. This is a dog run, NOT a playground -- children under 13 years of age must be accompanied by an adult and only one child per dog, please. PARENTS: this may not be
a safe environment for your children. Dogs perceive running as play and will chase a running child. Teach your children how to interact safely with dogs. Please respect that
dogs need a place to play and run freely. We don't let our dogs into your children's playground. If your child is interfering with the dogs’ play in the dog run, you WILL be
asked to leave.
9. PLEASE REMOVE POTENTIALLY DANGEROUS COLLARS IN THIS DOG RUN. Choke, prong and spike collars can injure your dog or other dogs during play.
10. Be responsible if a dog fight breaks out. YOU are financially responsible for any injuries caused by your dog in a fight. Settle all vet bills before returning to the run.
Owners of dogs involved in fights should exchange contact information and I.D. (SEE BELOW)
In case of a fight:
PLEASE REMEMBER to get up and get both parties' names and phone numbers and ask to see ID's. This is important even if there does not immediately appear to be a
serious injury; some conditions do not become evident until an hour or more later. If the owner does not have ID, get the dog’s tag numbers. THIS IS EVERYONE'S
RESPONSIBILITY. The owner of the injured dog is often too upset and distracted to do this. ALL of us must participate in making the run a safe place for dogs and owners.
Owners must pay 100% of the medical bills of any dog (and/or person) injured by their dog if their dog was clearly at fault. This includes a dog that singles out another dog
for attack or a dog that is clearly out of control for some time. In a “no fault” situation where neither dog is clearly to blame, (such as one dog humping the another, which
leads to a fight - a case where neither dog behaved well), owners should split the costs of a necessary vet bill. However, owners of UNNEUTERED MALES must pay 100% of
the veterinary costs regardless of who started it. Because intact males are likely to be aggressive or provoke aggression, bringing them into the run puts all dogs at risk.
ALL DOGS involved in the fight must leave until they calm down. If there are vet bills involved, the owner of the dog who started the fight may not return until arrangements
are made to settle costs. If your dog regularly gets into fights, do not come into the dog run.
